The main objective of the Indian Standards Institution could briefly be described as being the promotion of standardization in the country through the preparation of specifications and administrations of quality certification mark scheme for products that comply with these specifications and it is governed by the Indian Standards Institution (Certification Marks Act 1952).

Information and Documents required for grant of Licence Under Product Certification Scheme of BIS.

• Self Evaluation Verification Report.

• Copy of test report, duly authenticated, independent BIS recognized laboratory indicating conformance of the product to relevant Indian Standard. It shall not be more than one month old.

• Document authentication establishment of the company, such as Registration by Company Registrar or State Authority or Memorandum of Article in case Applicant Firm is a Limited Company or Partnership Deed in case the applicant firm is under Partnership.

• Certificate from concerned regulatory companies as Central Insecticide Board (CIB), Chief Controller of Explosive (CCE) & Drug Controller etc.
